A native of France, Mr. Uhalt, 1020 South Kern Street, founded his business here 40 years ago. Since his retirement in 1941 his sons, Augustine, Frank, Pete and John Uhalt, have taken over the business. Another son, Bernard Uhalt, Jr., is a member of the San Francisco Seals baseball club.
Mr. Uhalt, a member of Druids lodge, is survived, besides the sons, by his widow, Mrs. Benita Uhalt of the home, a daughter, Mrs. Marie Smith, Los Angeles, and seven grandchildren, John, Paulette, Gary, Joanee, Jean and Nan Uhalt, all of Bakersfield, and Susannah Smith of Los Angeles.
