In Mary Grace Paquette’s book, Basques to Bakersfield, she claims that the Europa Hotel is both owned and in later pages also leased by Jean Burubeltz. Although the verdict is still out, the Europa Hotel (Hotel d’Europe) was operated by Jean and Jeanne Burubeltz. Pierre Roux at one time owned the hotel. After Jean passed away, records show that Jeanne Burubeltz purchased the hotel and ran it until 1921.
