Inside The Leader Saloon in 1912. It was located across from the Southern Pacific depot. The building is still there. If you look closely there is a Coca Cola mural on the side of this building.Patrons pose outside the Leader Saloon on the south side of Sumner near Baker. The Western Hotel is upstairs with the Leader Saloon downstairs at right and Crowell’s Furniture Store on the left. The Leader Saloon was at 705 “I” Street in Kern City. “I” Street later became Sumner. The lower half of the building survives.
