Granada Theater
Advertising “It’s COOL Inside” the Granada Theater in 1941 features the movie PENNY SERENADE starring Cary Grant, Beulah Bondi, and Irene Dunne. Also Scattergood Baines is on the marquee with Guy Kibbee.

The mayor of Bakersfield, Manuel Caracas owned the theater. Located at 618 Kentucky Street, as of 2021 the building stands.

A movie ticket cost $0.10, a nickel for a large bag of popcorn. On Saturdays there were children’s matinees, when you could watch serials and cartoons and the feature movie for $0.15.
