Fernando Etcheverry married Mathilde Etcheverry in 1902 (no relation) both originating from Aldudes, Fernando’s house name was Pedrotiania. Fernando was just sixteen, when he arrived in Los Banos. His two aunts lived nearby, but after five short years he was drawn to Kern County to chase his dream of running his own sheep business. Fernando became Faustino Mier Noriega’s business partner building the Noriega Hotel. His two youngest sisters, Jeanne and Marie Louise came to work in hotel, each meeting and later marrying Echenique brothers, Tomas and Miguel, respectively.

Fernando purchased the Evergreen Ranch from the Kern County Land Company in 1910.
